Doorway to 934

Renamed to Z-MC-120019

It is evening and the Doorway to 934 stands beautifully dressed in clean composure over weathered and timeworn steps. The painting of the geometry of an entrance in and of itself is a challenge well met, exposing the actual feeling of New Orleans.  Cutter has won national awards for such works.* This is a sensational example of why the world needs its artists! Many walk by but few pause to examine the windows, the florets and the flair of leaded glass above, as well as the diffused light that passes through all the panels, illuminating the wonderful woodwork, and indeed the tiles and stairway itself.  Look close: you will see the artist’s signature in the lower left, as though scribed into the surface the day on the building was constructed.   We are proud to present Doorway to 934 to you.

American artist Matthew Cutter aims to capture the beauty and solitude of the landscape; adept with both oil and acrylic, he paints his surroundings with sensitivity and poetic expression. A simple color harmony or pattern in nature is often the source of inspiration.

Employing a variety of techniques and tools keeps Matthew’s work fresh and exciting. Largely self-taught, Matthew is attempting to redefine acrylic as a medium equal to oil by manipulating surface textures to look like oil paint. His effort has not gone unnoticed as his collectors often comment on how his acrylic paintings resemble oils.

In 2010, he won the President’s Award at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, and in 2015 he was featured as an emerging artist in Southwest Art magazine. Matthew has work in several corporate collections and has built a loyal following among private collectors.
